Singing is a real passion for Jess, who fronted Taunton-based Indie Rock band “Kennel” from 2003-2005, before spending a year in London. She returned to Wellington in 2006 and wanted to start singing again but was unable to find the right band.Jess was an active member of the Wellington Arts Assocation for more than ten years, performing in both operatic shows and pantomimes at the Wellesley Theatre. The productions that she has appeared in range from “Sweet Charity” to “Dick Whittington”, but her favourite was “Robinson Crusoe” in 2004 in which she played the title role.

In October 2009 Jess read a story in the Wellington Weekly News which said that Laura was leaving Best Kept Secret, and that the band were looking for a new lead vocalist. She got in touch and arranged to meet James, Robin & Robert to audition. A planned one hour meeting quickly turned into three and a half hours as she was having so much fun. At the end of October Jess became the new singer for BKS and started rehearsals ready for to take over just before Christmas 2009.

Jess said “It is great to be part of a well established band with great musicians!”
Jess reluctantly left the band in 2011 after accepting a new job in London, but hopes to continue performing when she is settled.
